Magical Evening at the National Opera in Bucharest, on World Health Day

The Academy of Medical Sciences organized, on Sunday, at the National Opera in Bucharest, on World Health Day, a high-level artistic event, attended by almost a thousand people. “Opera Gala,” an extraordinary concert performed by the “Dr. Ermil Nichifor” Doctors’ Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Iosif Ion Prunner, delighted the audience.

Following the messages conveyed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diana Loreta Paun, presidential advisor, Presidential Administration, Prof. Dr. Carmen Orban, state counselor, Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Dr. Caroline Clarinval, Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Office in Romania, Prof. Dr. Emanoil Ceauşu, Secretary-General, Executive Office of the Academy of Medical Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Mircea Penescu, concertmaster of the Doctors’ Orchestra, the concert followed in which excerpts from operas composed by Giuseppe Verdi, such as Nabucco, La Forza del Destino, Lombardi, Ernani, were performed.

Alongside the orchestra, soloists Aida Pascu, Ionuț, and Madeleine Pascu took the stage.

In the second part, excerpts from operas by composers Giacomo Puccini and Edward Elgar were performed. The Academic Adagietto Overture by Johannes Brahms concluded the tribute concert.

Prof. Dr. Mircea Beuran, President of the Academy of Medical Sciences, thanked the Doctors’ Orchestra for their dedication, emotion, sensitivity, and love for art and people. At the same time, the President of the ASM thanked the Director of the National Opera in Bucharest, Daniel Nicolae Jinga, for the support provided in creating an exceptional spectacle.
